Year 2020 has brought many national disasters and now that we are welcoming wintertime, it is recommended to ensure you and your home are kept safe. South West WA has already been victim to a number of storms this winter season and to ensure your house is prepared and stormproof we have compiled a list of points to keep in mind before the next storm hits.
Before the Storm
- Ensure that outside loose items, for example, outdoor settings, umbrellas or trampolines are tightly and safely secured.
- If safe to do so, check the house’s gutters, downpipes and drains are not blocked.
- Store your car undercover and away from trees.

During the Storm
- Ensure you and your family stay inside and away from windows.
- Be prepared for power outages by stocking up on candles, torches etc.
- Avoid driving or walking outside and through floodwater.

After the Storm
- Check your house and property for any damages.
- Be aware of any road hazards caused by the storm, such as tree debris, floodwater, etc.
- If there are any damages to a rental property, please contact your rental agency ASAP to organise repairs.
